The Path is becoming clear...

It has been quite some time since I've posted anything; all for good reason. As I move through this wonderful thing called Life, my path is becoming clearer to me...I naturally progress to levels that inspire me to be exactly what I want to be and do what I want to do. That is an amazing feeling! To FEEL right in the steps you are taking to progress and elevate to higher levels...whether spiritually, emotionally or with your career, family, etc.

I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) at the end of April and the school 'semester' began May 3rd. IIN is a school that certifies individuals to become holistic health counselors. I became aware of IIN when I was with a friend, perusing through a fairly new health food store in Harlem and I picked up a catalog for the Omega Institute and saw an ad for IIN in the back. When I got home I immediately went on the website and I knew that this was for me. I FELT it in my being and called to inquire about their program.

I am studying online which is so convenient and this experience so far has been amazing, to say the least. I've learned not only more about nutrition and making sure you take care of your body by eating healthy foods, but I've learned more about myself. That I have talents that I'm not utilizing for various reasons: fear, lack of self-confidence, financial reasons. IIN not only focuses on nutrition but your lifestyle as well and they encourage you to really look within and add in things that support your personal growth. It feels right and I know I'm on the right path.

I will also be hosting my first meditation workshop next month and I am bursting with excitement - lol! I became a certified meditation teacher earlier this year because again, it just felt right. Meditation has been so beneficial to me, I wanted to share that knowledge and love for the practice with others, hence, my workshop series.

Even though I'm facing financial challenges that are overwhelming, dealing with the loss of my aunt and now my 32 yr old cousin, I can still say that I am happy. Really happy that I've challenged myself to reflect and tap into my own power and use that power to create the life I want! I am learning to focus on all that is good because when you do that, the bad stuff doesn't hold that much power over you. It just doesn't.

I challenge you to reflect and examine areas where you need to clean house and focus on all that is positive in your life. Keep your mind on what's good and it will bring about more good in your life. And even when you are faced with Life's challenges, you will be so use to looking at all that is good, the 'sting' from what's not so good, won't be as bad.

Be well...Namaste.

Organic Food: The New 'Celebrity'

Everywhere you go it's all about organic. Organic fruit, vegetables, even clothing! Our society has become obsessed with buying organic and has made organic foods the new icon...the new celebrity. So what's all the hoopla about?

Organic foods have become very popular in the last 5-10 years. This industry is a multi-billion dollar business. Why? Because we have become more focused on the foods we eat and the effect they have on our bodies. We have become more focused on how foods nourish and heal our bodies and we've learned that organic foods do that best.

I've read that organic foods do not contain nearly as much or any toxins (pesticides, growth-hormones, etc) as conventional foods. With organic foods, farmers do not utilize chemicals to grow and maintain them and this allows for these foods to be healthier and safer. Organic meats especially, are more beneficial because chemicals that are used to fatten up and enlarge cows and chickens are not used.

I have become more conscious myself of organic foods and continue to read more about them. Now the thing about organic foods is that it is costly and these days folks are watching their pockets a lot more closely. However, what's more important? Saving a few extra dollars or living a healthy life? Can't really put a price on the latter so buy organic when you can. I do and I don't ever regret making that choice each time I go into the supermarket.

Also when you buy organic know that not everything is 'true' organic food. There are companies that will put one natural ingredient into their product and slap an organic label on it. How companies are regulated is still a work in progress; the government still has a way to go with stricter regulations when it comes to calling something organic. But for the most part your fruits, veggies and meats labeled organic, are truly organic.

So choose organic and be well!
